Dear Most Holy Trinity Family:
The Parable of the Wheat and the Weeds is illustrative because both wheat and weeds tend to grow alongside one another. The weeds compete with the wheat for resources, trying to choke its growth.
The same is true in our personal lives. We try to do good work and live good lives. We also pray and receive Christ in the Sacraments, but does this mean that our lives are free of weeds? This answer is very personal, but the reality is that we are never free of weeds. There is always something ungodly competing for our attention and resources, trying to choke the good growing within us.
