Dear Most Holy Trinity Family:

In the Gospels, Jesus keeps speaking to us in parables. The parables we have been hearing are mainly addressed to the chief priests, the scribes, and the Pharisees, in other words, to those of us in leadership roles in the church. But not exclusively, because the parable is also for everyone who is already in the Church, although perhaps are not yet producing the fruits that God wants.

On a different note, I want to thank you for supporting our Sunday-Fun-Day this weekend. First and foremost, this event is intended to foster a stronger sense of friendship and solidarity across our diverse parish community.

Speaking of solidarity, I also want to express my gratitude to those who have pledged to Sowing Seeds of Faith. The MHT Jesuit community has made our contribution. We had to come together to think about how much we could contribute without taking away from another organization that we support. Thus, we also realized and appreciate how tight finances can be.

If you are thinking of pledging, please keep in mind that this is five-year plan. This means that you can contribute a given amount every year for the next five years; however, if all of a sudden, your income changes, then you can rethink your commitment. This campaign will run until November 2026. Therefore, we hope to reach our goal by then. Some of you have been given the opportunity to support Sowing Seeds of Faith, while others are waiting. The campaign is unfolding in stages; thus, it will reach all of you within the next six weeks because the desired result is to bring Sowing Seeds of Faith to its final goal by of the end of November. To those who are able to make a financial contribution, a suggested amount is being requested, but keep in mind that the amount is only a suggestion for you to consider. Ultimately, you decide how much you can give in a sustainable manner within the next five years without hurting you current Sunday and second collection giving.

Trong các sách Phúc Âm, Chúa Giêsu thường xuyên dùng dụ ngôn để giảng dạy chúng ta. Những dụ ngôn mà chúng ta đã nghe chủ yếu nhắm vào các thượng tế, kinh sư và người Pharisiêu — nói cách khác là những người giữ vai trò lãnh đạo trong Giáo hội. Tuy nhiên, thông điệp này không chỉ dành riêng cho họ, mà còn cho tất cả những ai đã thuộc về Giáo hội nhưng có thể vẫn chưa trổ sinh những hoa trái mà Thiên Chúa mong đợi.

Ở một khía cạnh khác, tôi muốn gửi lời cảm ơn đến quý vị đã ủng hộ sự kiện “Sunday-Fun-Day” (Ngày Chủ Nhật Vui) vào cuối tuần qua. Trước hết, sự kiện này nhằm mục đích thắt chặt tình bằng hữu và tinh thần đoàn kết trong cộng đoàn giáo xứ đa dạng của chúng ta.

Nhắc đến tinh thần đoàn kết, tôi cũng muốn bày tỏ lòng biết ơn đối với những ai đã cam kết đóng góp cho chương trình “Sowing Seeds of Faith” (Hạt Giống Đức Tin). Cộng đoàn Dòng Tên tại MHT cũng đã đóng góp phần mình. Chúng tôi đã cùng nhau cân nhắc mức đóng góp sao cho phù hợp mà không làm ảnh hưởng đến việc hỗ trợ các tổ chức khác. Qua đó, chúng tôi cũng thấu hiểu và trân trọng những khó khăn về tài chính mà nhiều người có thể đang gặp phải.

Nếu quý vị đang cân nhắc việc cam kết đóng góp, xin lưu ý rằng đây là một kế hoạch kéo dài 5 năm. Điều này có nghĩa là quý vị có thể đóng góp một khoản tiền nhất định hàng năm trong suốt 5 năm tới; tuy nhiên, nếu thu nhập của quý vị bất ngờ thay đổi, quý vị hoàn toàn có thể xem xét lại cam kết của mình. Chiến dịch này sẽ kéo dài đến tháng 11 năm 2026, và chúng tôi hy vọng sẽ đạt được mục tiêu đề ra vào thời điểm đó. Dear Most Holy Trinity Family:

This weekend the readings speak about a change of course. In the first reading, one person takes a different path, and in the Gospel, another person has a change of mind.

Change is difficult. It is often difficult to leave something behind to take up a different path. It is not easy to leave something behind that seems comfortable for something that makes us feel uncomfortable. Changing course is difficult, but at times, necessary. As a Church and parish community, we need to be open to change to allow the Holy Spirt to guide and renew us. Otherwise, we may do things only out of self-interest.

I want to thank those involved in planning our Oct. 4^th Sunday Fun Day MHT family event. This event is not a festival as it was being planned because we saw the need to change the direction and purpose of the event. Cultural entertainment and finger food will be available for children and adults for a suggested donation to cover the expenses, but the event is not intended for profit. Again, I am grateful to the organizing team, to those who bought raffle tickets, and to those of you attending the event to build up the spirt of community, collaboration, and solidarity across culture communities.

Speaking of a change of course, the Summer is now behind us, and the Fall season is upon us. Along with this, there is a new cycle of Religious Education programs and our MHT School classes are now in session. The church is buzzing with activities and programs. In this energy, I feel and hear the buzzing and humming of the Holy Spirt. I also see it and feel it in the changing of times and seasons.

As the start a new cycle in the life of the parish community, may our hearts be open to renewal and change whenever these are necessary for the sake of the common good and for our own good as St. Paul says in this weekend’s letter to the Philippians: “Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory; rather, humbly regard others as more important than yourselves, each looking out not for his own interests, but also for those of others.” May this mindset, centered in Christ and in the other, help us to be open to change course when change is needed.

Cuối tuần này, các bài đọc nói về một sự thay đổi hướng đi. Trong bài đọc thứ nhất, một người chọn một con đường khác; còn trong bài Tin Mừng, một người khác thay đổi ý định.

Thay đổi là điều khó khăn. Việc từ bỏ một điều gì đó để chọn một con đường khác thường không dễ dàng. Chúng ta không dễ rời bỏ một điều tưởng như thoải mái để đón nhận một điều khiến chúng ta cảm thấy không thoải mái. Thay đổi hướng đi là điều khó khăn, nhưng đôi khi lại cần thiết. Là một Hội Thánh và một cộng đoàn giáo xứ, chúng ta cần rộng mở trước sự thay đổi để Chúa Thánh Thần hướng dẫn và canh tân chúng ta. Nếu không, chúng ta có thể chỉ làm mọi việc vì lợi ích riêng của mình.

Tôi muốn cảm ơn tất cả những người đã tham gia vào việc lên kế hoạch cho sự kiện Chủ Nhật Vui Vẻ – Ngày Hội Gia Đình MHT vào Chúa Nhật, ngày 4 tháng 10. Sự kiện này không phải là một lễ hội, và chúng tôi nhận thấy cần phải thay đổi định hướng cũng như mục đích của sự kiện. Các tiết mục văn hóa và những món ăn nhẹ sẽ được phục vụ cho trẻ em và người lớn với khoản đóng góp tùy ý, nhằm trang trải các chi phí; sự kiện này không nhằm mục đích sinh lợi. Một lần nữa, tôi rất biết ơn ban tổ chức, những người đã mua vé xổ số, và tất cả quý vị tham dự sự kiện để cùng xây dựng tinh thần cộng đồng, cộng tác và liên đới giữa các cộng đồng văn hóa.

Nói về sự thay đổi hướng đi, mùa Hè giờ đây đã ở phía sau chúng ta, và mùa Thu đã đến. Cùng với đó, một chu kỳ mới của các chương trình Giáo lý đã bắt đầu, và các lớp học của Trường MHT cũng đã khai giảng. Nhà thờ đang tràn đầy các hoạt động và chương trình. Trong nguồn năng lượng ấy, tôi cảm nhận và nghe thấy tiếng rì rào, tiếng vang của Chúa Thánh Thần. Tôi cũng nhìn thấy và cảm nhận Ngài qua sự chuyển đổi của thời gian và các mùa trong năm.

Khi chúng ta bắt đầu một chu kỳ mới trong đời sống của cộng đoàn giáo xứ, ước gì tâm hồn chúng ta luôn rộng mở để đón nhận sự canh tân và thay đổi bất cứ khi nào điều đó cần thiết vì lợi ích chung và vì lợi ích của chính chúng ta. Như Thánh Phaolô nói trong thư gửi tín hữu Philipphê được đọc vào cuối tuần này: “Anh em đừng làm gì vì lòng ích kỷ hay vì hư danh; nhưng hãy khiêm nhường coi người khác trọng hơn mình, mỗi người đừng chỉ quan tâm đến lợi ích riêng, nhưng cũng quan tâm đến lợi ích của người khác.” Ước gì cách suy nghĩ này, lấy Đức Kitô và tha nhân làm trung tâm, giúp chúng ta luôn rộng mở để thay đổi hướng đi khi sự thay đổi là điều cần thiết.

Dear Most Holy Trinity Family:

Catholic Social Teaching upholds the dignity of work and the rights of workers. In today’s Gospel we hear the parable about workers who are waiting to be hired, but for different reasons, they were not. I am not sure what those reasons may have been, but perhaps they were experiencing discrimination, just as many workers do today because of their age, a disability, or due to artificial intelligence leaving many people out of the labor force. In the parable, at the end of the day, the landowner, God in this case, notices them, and at the last hour of the day, hires them for one hour for a wage that seems unfair to the other workers because they were hired in the first hour and labored for the entire day.

We have met with many of you to ask you to consider ways of supporting Sowing Seeds of Faith. If we have not met with you as yet, do not worry, we will have an opportunity to do so in the upcoming weeks and months. I understand that the financial goal of the campaign may feel discouraging and disappointing for many of you. But let us not focus so much on the money itself because when money becomes the end goal, and the idol of our worship, we are being led away from the purpose of the Sowing Seeds of Faith. First and foremost, the purpose of the campaign is the renewal of our faith and spirituality on a personal and community level.

In my meetings with those of you I have met with to ask for support for Sowing Seeds of Faith, I hear and see how generous and grateful you already are to God and for the parish community. I also hear and see how stretched thin your finances can be.

While meeting our financial goal is important, this should not be the most important aspect of Sowing Seeds of Faith. You and I are on agreement about this. Our goal must be the renewal and the maturity of our faith and spirituality. It is from this that everything else flows. So, as you are approached to participate in the campaign, please do not keep your eyes only on the financial aspect of the campaign, as the workers in the Gospel who labored all day did. Because when we do so, we might also feel cheated, and experience disappointment and discouragement as they did.

Giáo huấn Xã hội Công giáo luôn đề cao phẩm giá của công việc và quyền lợi của người lao động. Trong bài Tin Mừng hôm nay, chúng ta nghe kể về những người thợ chờ được thuê mướn nhưng vì nhiều lý do khác nhau, họ đã không được nhận vào làm. Tôi không rõ những lý do đó là gì, nhưng có lẽ họ đã phải chịu sự phân biệt đối xử — giống như nhiều người lao động ngày nay gặp phải do tuổi tác, khuyết tật, hoặc do trí tuệ nhân tạo khiến nhiều người bị gạt ra khỏi lực lượng lao động. Trong dụ ngôn, vào cuối ngày, người chủ đất (ở đây tượng trưng cho Thiên Chúa) đã chú ý đến họ; và vào giờ cuối cùng trong ngày, Ngài thuê họ làm việc trong một giờ với mức thù lao có vẻ bất công đối với những người thợ khác — những người đã được thuê từ giờ đầu tiên và làm việc suốt cả ngày.

Chúng tôi đã gặp gỡ nhiều người trong quý vị để mời gọi quý vị cân nhắc các cách thức hỗ trợ chương trình “Hạt Giống Đức Tin” (Sowing Seeds of Faith). Nếu chúng tôi chưa có dịp gặp quý vị, xin đừng lo lắng; chúng tôi sẽ có cơ hội thực hiện điều đó trong những tuần và những tháng sắp tới. Tôi hiểu rằng mục tiêu tài chính của chiến dịch có thể khiến nhiều người trong quý vị cảm thấy nản lòng hoặc thất vọng. Tuy nhiên, xin đừng quá chú trọng vào bản thân số tiền đó; bởi lẽ khi tiền bạc trở thành mục đích cuối cùng và trở thành “ngẫu tượng” mà chúng ta tôn thờ, chúng ta sẽ bị lôi cuốn rời xa mục đích thực sự của chương trình “Hạt Giống Đức Tin”. Trong các cuộc gặp gỡ để kêu gọi sự ủng hộ cho chương trình “Hạt Giống Đức Tin”, tôi đã thấy và cảm nhận được sự quảng đại cũng như lòng biết ơn mà quý vị dành cho Thiên Chúa và cộng đoàn giáo xứ. Đồng thời, tôi cũng thấu hiểu những khó khăn và áp lực tài chính mà quý vị đang phải đối mặt.

Mặc dù việc đạt được mục tiêu tài chính là điều quan trọng, nhưng đó không nên là khía cạnh quan trọng nhất của chương trình “Hạt Giống Đức Tin”. Quý vị và tôi đều đồng thuận về điều này. Mục tiêu của chúng ta phải là sự canh tân và sự trưởng thành trong đức tin cũng như đời sống tâm linh. Mọi sự khác đều bắt nguồn từ nền tảng đó. Vì vậy, khi được mời gọi tham gia chiến dịch, xin quý vị đừng chỉ nhìn vào khía cạnh tài chính, giống như những người thợ đã làm việc suốt cả ngày trong bài Tin Mừng kia. Bởi vì khi làm như vậy, chúng ta cũng có thể cảm thấy bị lừa dối, cũng như nếm trải nỗi thất vọng và sự nản lòng y như họ.

Dear Most Holy Trinity Family:

In the context of today’s Gospel passage, the number “seven” seems like the ultimate number. This is why Peter first asked Jesus if he should forgive someone up to seven times. For some of us, just three could be an ultimate number. For example, when my mother gave me an order to do a task, most of the time I did not get it done immediately. Sometimes I waited until she counted to three. She would ask me to do it twice, but not a third time, because if she counted to three, and I had not done it, I was in trouble with her. For my mother, the third call was the ultimate, and for Peter, the limit was perhaps the seventh time. However, when it comes to forgiveness, Jesus says to Peter: “Seventy times seven.” Basically, Jesus is telling Peter not to keep a record.

In the parable, there is a debtor whose debt is forgiven because there is no way that person could have paid it off. Later on, after the debtor is set free of his debt, he finds a person who owes him a small amount, and who also cannot pay it off immediately. But the one who had been freed from the debt put the one who now owes him a small amount in prison! For me, this is the disturbing part of the parable.

Once the unforgiving and ungrateful servant got what he wanted, he disregarded the needs of the one who was indebted to him. Sometimes our behavior can be similar to the unforgiving servant: when we get what we need or want, we can quickly forget the blessings we have received. However, this is not always the case because many of us do our best to live out the values of the Gospel with generosity, compassion, forgiveness, and stewardship. And we do it out of a sense of gratitude for all the blessings that we have received. In the Sowing Seeds of Faith campaign, I have come to see this and more in all of you. Thus, I continue to pray that we may respond to the needs of others with generous and grateful hearts.

Trong bối cảnh bài Tin Mừng hôm nay, con số “bảy” dường như là con số tối đa. Đó là lý do tại sao Phêrô hỏi Chúa Giêsu liệu ông có nên tha thứ cho ai đó đến bảy lần hay không. Đối với một số người trong chúng ta, con số ba cũng có thể được coi là giới hạn cuối cùng. Chẳng hạn, khi mẹ tôi bảo tôi làm một việc gì đó, phần lớn thời gian tôi không thực hiện ngay lập tức. Đôi khi tôi đợi cho đến khi bà đếm đến ba. Bà thường nhắc tôi làm việc đó hai lần, nhưng không đến lần thứ ba; bởi vì nếu bà đếm đến ba mà tôi vẫn chưa làm, thì tôi sẽ gặp rắc rối với bà. Đối với mẹ tôi, lần gọi thứ ba là giới hạn cuối cùng, còn đối với Phêrô, giới hạn đó có lẽ là lần thứ bảy. Tuy nhiên, khi nói đến sự tha thứ, Chúa Giêsu bảo Phêrô: “Bảy mươi lần bảy”. Một khi người đầy tớ thiếu lòng tha thứ và vô ơn kia đạt được điều mình muốn, anh ta liền phớt lờ nhu cầu của người đang mắc nợ mình. Đôi khi cách hành xử của chúng ta cũng giống như người đầy tớ thiếu lòng tha thứ ấy: khi có được điều mình cần hoặc muốn, chúng ta có thể nhanh chóng quên đi những ân phúc mình đã lãnh nhận. Tuy nhiên, không phải lúc nào cũng như vậy, bởi có nhiều người trong chúng ta vẫn luôn nỗ lực sống theo các giá trị Tin Mừng với tinh thần quảng đại, lòng trắc ẩn, sự tha thứ và tinh thần quản lý trung tín. Và chúng ta thực hiện điều đó xuất phát từ lòng biết ơn đối với tất cả những ân phước đã lãnh nhận. Qua chiến dịch “Hạt Giống Đức Tin” (Sowing Seeds of Faith), tôi đã thấy được những điều này và nhiều hơn thế nữa nơi tất cả anh chị em. Vì vậy, tôi vẫn tiếp tục cầu nguyện để chúng ta có thể đáp lại những nhu cầu của người khác với trái tim quảng đại và đầy lòng biết ơn.

En el contexto del pasaje del evangelio de hoy, «siete» representaba un número definitivo o límite. Por eso, Pedro le preguntó a Jesús si debía perdonar hasta siete veces. Para algunos de nosotros, el número definitivo sería el tres. Por ejemplo, recuerdo cuando mi madre me ordenaba hacer una tarea. La mayoría de veces, no la realizaba de inmediato. A veces esperaba a que me lo mandara por tercera vez. Me lo podía pedir dos veces, pero no una tercera, porque si llegaba a contar hasta tres y aún no lo había hecho, me metía en problemas con ella. Para mi madre, el tercer aviso era el límite definitivo; para Pedro, el límite era el séptimo. Sin embargo, cuando se trata del perdón, Jesús le dice a Pedro: «Setenta veces siete». En el fondo, Jesús le está diciendo a Pedro que no lleve la cuenta.

En la parábola de hoy, hay un deudor a quien se le perdona la deuda porque no había manera de que pudiera pagarla. Más tarde, una vez liberado de su propia deuda, esta persona encuentra a un hombre que le debía una pequeña cantidad pero que no podía pagársela de inmediato. Entonces, ¡aquel que fue liberado de la deuda encarcela a quien ahora le debe una pequeña suma! Para mí, es la parte inquietante de la parábola.

Una vez que el siervo despiadado obtuvo el perdón de la deuda, pasó por alto las necesidades de aquel que le debía. A veces, nuestra conducta puede asemejarse a la de aquel siervo despiadado porque cuando conseguimos lo que queremos, podemos olvidar rápidamente las bendiciones recibidas. Sin embargo, no siempre es así, ya que muchos de nosotros nos esforzamos por vivir los valores del Evangelio, tales como la generosidad, la compasión, el perdón y la corresponsabilidad. Y lo hacemos movidos por el agradecimiento ante las bendiciones que hemos recibido. Por ejemplo, a través de la campaña Sembrando Semillas de Fe, he podido apreciar esto y mucho más de ustedes. Financial Management and Accounting

• Lead and manage all parish financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, reporting and financial controls in accordance with Diocese of San Jose Accounting Standards, and the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

• Prepare, administer, and monitor the annual budget in collaboration with the Pastor, and Finance Council.

• Create and maintain a strong system of internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure proper stewardship.

• Publish annual financial reports to include budget vs. actuals, for leadership and diocesan review.

• Main liaison contact with Diocesan Finance Office on approvals, reporting, and compliance.

• Oversee accurate and timely financial reporting to the Diocese.

• Oversee General Ledger, Accounts Payable/Receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.

• Manage and coordinate parish audits, including planning and preparation, working directly with the Diocesan auditors, and implementing corrective actions and recommendations.

• Oversee compliance all applicable financial, tax, and diocesan regulations.

• Manage and oversee weekly collection count processes, donations, and restricted funds.

• Review invoices and reimbursement check request for accuracy and for correct expense code assignment.

• Create and manage Online Giving, ensure Online Funds are tied to accounting code revenue and restricted funds.

• Create monthly reports for the accountant: online contribution, credit card payments, square, and benefit matching contributions.

• Lead and coordinate stewardship initiatives, ADA Campaign, fundraising event, and development efforts.

• Prepare and submit grant applications to support parish programs initiatives.

Facilities & Risk Management

• Manage maintenance and operations of all parish facilities.

• Manage capital improvement, and repairs and maintenance plans

• Develop Scope of Works for all projects to ensure project delivery is on time, budget, and on scope.

• Initiate and manage request for Proposals on all major facilities project

• Contact and interface with independent contractors to ensure service meets expectations time, budget and scope.

• Ensure compliance with safety, insurance and risk management policies.

• Ensure that all buildings are in compliance with local regulatory agencies for annual safety inspections.

• Ensure monthly fire extinguishers inspections are conducted.

• Coordinate property, liability and worker’s compensation insurance.

Administrative and Parish Support

• Direct daily operations of the parish office.

• Manage and train all administrative staff and volunteers.

• Ensure Parish Bulletin and other communication are created and distributed/updated weekly.

• Handle problems and concerns regarding requirements, regulations and procedures for staff, parish group and parishioners.

• Interface with IT support contractor for proper maintenance of the parish server and local equipment.

Human Resources

• Administrative staff oversight, including hiring coordination (Pastor retains authority), job posting, and position creation.

• Manage local Workday process daily and employee benefits and maintain confidentiality in all personnel matters.

• Monitor employee safe environment compliance.

• Oversee, initiate, process, and follow up Human Resources actions, to include write-ups, warnings, violations, performance improvement plans, suspension, and termination.

Dear Most Holy Trinity Family:

The summer break is rapidly coming to an end, and classes for MHT students have resumed. This is consoling to me because the school is one of our parish ministries that fills me with joy and hope. In the past twelve months, I have met a number of people who attended Holy Trinity School, and in my interactions with them, I can see the fruits of a Catholic education.

Speaking of coming to an end, I want to share that Mario Lucas informed me that he is leaving MHT to work in the Diocese of Oakland. While the news saddens me, I am glad for Mario because this is a new opportunity for him to share his gifts and talents. Seeking new opportunities in a different environment speaks to a person’s hope and desire for renewal. Mario has served us with generosity, respect, and dedication. For him, MHT is not the place where he comes to work, but rather the place where he comes to minister.

With respect to mission and ministry, you will start to hear more about Sowing Seeds of Faith. This is a diocesan-wide campaign. Thus, as a parish within the Diocese, MHT is very much part of the campaign. Our parish has been asked to consider a sacrificial gift of $1,606,379 over the next five years. This sum includes our parish commitment to the 2026 Annual Diocesan Appeal. Fifty percent of every dollar raised will remain at the parish, and the other fifty percent will be given to the Diocese for the Pastoral Plan. The percentage that remains at MHT will support the following ministries: youth, young adults, faith formation, and provide possible seed money for the installation of an HVAC system.

Just as Simon Peter was, we too have been entrusted with the keys to bring others into the mission and ministry of the Church. Sowing Seeds of Faith is very much about this. While there is a financial responsibility that comes with the Pastoral Plan, Sowing Seeds of Faith is not just about money. The plan also requires prayer, participation in Mass, time for formation and growth in faith and understanding, and volunteer service in ministry. The main purpose of the Pastoral Plan is spiritual renewal. Thus, I am grateful to those of you who are already participating in these activities and who are willing to do more by contributing to Sowing Seeds of Faith in different ways. Some of you have become ambassadors for the campaign. Besides making a financial contribution, the ambassadors will be visiting with some of you and asking you to consider supporting Sowing Seeds of Faith.

Gia đình Giáo xứ Chúa Ba Ngôi quý mến,

Mùa hè sắp kết thúc, và mùa học mới ở trường Chúa Ba Ngôi đã bắt đầu trở lại. Điều này làm tôi vui, vì một trong những công việc mục vụ của giáo xứ mang lại cho tôi niềm vui và hy vọng chính là trường học Chúa Ba Ngôi. Trong mười hai tháng qua, tôi đã gặp một số người từng theo học tại trường Chúa Ba Ngôi, và trong những lần gặp gỡ họ, tôi có thể thấy được nơi họ kết quả của một nền giáo dục Công giáo.

Nói về việc sắp kết thúc, tôi muốn chia sẻ rằng ông Mario Lucas đã thông báo với tôi rằng ông sẽ rời giáo xứ Chúa Ba Ngôi để đến làm việc tại Giáo phận Oakland. Mặc dù tin này khiến tôi buồn, nhưng tôi vui cho ông Mario, vì đây là cơ hội mới để ông chia sẻ những món quà và tài năng Chúa ban cho ông. Tìm kiếm cơ hội mới trong một môi trường khác cho thấy ông là một con người đầy hy vọng và khao khát đổi mới. Ông Mario đã phục vụ giáo xứ chúng ta với lòng quảng đại, sự tôn trọng và tận tâm. Nói về sứ mạng và mục vụ, quý ông bà anh chị em sẽ bắt đầu nghe nhiều hơn về cuộc vận động đóng góp Gieo Hạt Đức Tin (Sowing Seeds of Faith). Đây là một chiến dịch toàn giáo phận. Vì vậy, giáo xứ Chúa Ba Ngôi chúng ta, với tư cách là thành viên của giáo phận, là một phần trong chiến dịch này. Giáo phận xin giáo xứ của chúng ta một món quà hy sinh trị giá 1.606.379 đô la trong 5 năm tới. Số tiền này bao gồm phần đóng góp của giáo xứ chúng ta cho ADA 2026. Thánh Phêrô được Chúa trao chìa khóa, chúng ta cũng được Chúa trao chìa khóa để đưa những anh chị em khác vào sứ mạng và công tác mục vụ của Giáo Hội. Gieo Hạt Đức Tin liên quan mật thiết đến điều này. Vì dù có trách nhiệm đóng góp tài chính đi kèm trong Kế Hoạch Mục Vụ, Gieo Hạt Đức Tin không chỉ là vấn đề tài chính. Kế Hoạch Mục vụ còn cần lời cầu nguyện, việc tham dự Thánh Lễ, việc dành thời gian học hỏi để chúng ta lớn lên trong đức tin, sự thấu hiểu, và phục vụ tình nguyện trong các hoạt động mục vụ. Mục đích chính của Kế Hoạch Mục Vụ là đổi mới tâm linh. Vì vậy, tôi biết ơn những quý ông bà anh chị em đã tham gia vào những hoạt động trên và sẵn sàng làm nhiều hơn nữa bằng cách đóng góp cho cuộc vận động Gieo Hạt Đức Tin qua nhiều cách khác nhau. Một số quý ông bà anh chị em đã tình nguyện trở thành những đại sứ cho chiến dịch Gieo Hạt Đức Tin. Ngoài việc đóng góp tài chính, các đại sứ sẽ đến thăm một số quý ông bà anh chị em giáo dân trong giáo xứ, để xin quý ông bà anh chị em cân nhắc việc ủng hộ chương trình Gieo Hạt Đức Tin.

Dear Most Holy Trinity Family:

“It is not right to take the food of the children
and throw it to the dogs.”

This was Jesus’ reply to the Canaanite woman asking Jesus to heal her daughter. In response to Jesus, the woman said, “Please, Lord, even the dogs eat the scraps that fall from the table of their masters.”

The words of Jesus seem harsh and unnecessary, and the woman’s statement is bold and convincing. In the narrative, one can find a struggle for power, gender, culture, and race. This, of course, is one of the many interpretations of the text.

However, the verbal exchange between the woman and Jesus is also an example of dialogue, humility, inclusion, and the transformation of hearts. That is because Jesus’ heart, as well as the heart of the woman, is transformed. Today’s Gospel narrative can be helpful to us at MHT because, in a community as culturally and racially diverse as ours, we too can have negative views of each other and use derogatory terms to refer to those outside of our circle. We too can have a struggle for power and control.

Speaking of culture and spirituality, I commend and congratulate the Samahang Filipino Organization for their fifty years of existence and service.

May our MHT community be a place of faith for spiritual and cultural exchange, and also for the transformation of hearts and minds, because we all eat at the same banquet table and share the same Bread: The Body of Christ.

Gia đình Giáo xứ Chúa Ba Ngôi quý mến,

“Không nên lấy bánh dành cho con cái mà ném cho lũ chó con.”

Đó là lời đáp của Chúa Giêsu với người phụ nữ Canaan khi bà xin Người chữa lành cho con gái mình. Đáp lại Chúa Giêsu, bà thưa:“Thưa Ngài, đúng thế, nhưng mà lũ chó con cũng được ăn những mảnh vụn trên bàn chủ rơi xuống.”

Thoạt nghe, lời của Chúa Giêsu có vẻ gay gắt và không cần thiết, còn lời đáp của người phụ nữ thì mạnh mẽ và đầy sức thuyết phục. Trong trình thuật này, chúng ta có thể nhận ra sự giằng co về quyền lực, giới tính, văn hóa và chủng tộc. Dĩ nhiên, đó chỉ là một trong nhiều cách diễn giải đoạn Tin Mừng này.

Tuy nhiên, cuộc đối thoại giữa Chúa Giêsu và người phụ nữ cũng là một mẫu gương về đối thoại, khiêm nhường, bao dung và sự biến đổi của tâm hồn. Điều đó xảy ra vì trái tim của Chúa Giêsu cũng như trái tim của người phụ nữ đều được biến đổi. Bài Tin Mừng hôm nay cũng có thể là lời nhắn nhủ dành cho cộng đoàn

Chúa Ba Ngôi của chúng ta. Trong một cộng đoàn đa dạng về văn hóa và chủng tộc như giáo xứ chúng ta, đôi khi chúng ta cũng có thể mang những định kiến tiêu cực về nhau hoặc dùng những lời lẽ hạ thấp những người ngoài nhóm của mình. Chúng ta cũng có thể rơi vào những cuộc tranh giành quyền lực và sự kiểm soát.

Nói đến văn hóa và đời sống đức tin, tôi xin bày tỏ lòng trân trọng và chúc mừng Hội Samahang của cộng đoàn Phi Luật Tân nhân dịp kỷ niệm 50 năm sự hiện diện và phục vụ của hội.

Nguyện xin cộng đoàn Chúa Ba Ngôi của chúng ta luôn là nơi nuôi dưỡng đức tin, là nơi gặp gỡ để trao đổi và chia sẻ về đời sống thiêng liêng cũng như văn hóa, đồng thời là nơi biến đổi tâm hồn và trí lòng của mỗi người. Dear Most Holy Trinity Family:   

“Five loaves and two fish are all we have here.” (Matt. 14:17) 

This is true of those of you supporting our parish community. You share your loaves and fish so that those who have less may have a portion. I recently spoke to two of our parishioners and their testimony moved me because they both shared that they could live with luxuries and comforts, but instead they prefer a modest lifestyle so that they can donate to the parish and to other charitable organizations. I am sure that their testimony is also the testimony of many at MHT. 

In the same spirit of sharing, we are excited to bring back the Festival on October 3 & 4, 2026 – our first parish festival since 2019! The theme of this year is Together in Faith, United in Mission. After the COVID pandemic, the transitions of clergy, and other changes, this is a great occasion to come together in mutual support to celebrate the heritage of our parish community.  

We invite every family to be part of this joyful celebration. All raffle proceeds will support the Vestibule Renovation and Restroom Expansion Project. The project was stalled for a while, but it has not been abandoned, and it continues to be a priority. As of now, new permits were resubmitted to the City for approval, but this process can take months.  

Thank you for being generous in the ways that you share your loaves and fish with others at MHT and beyond the parish community.

Gần đây, tôi có dịp trò chuyện với hai giáo dân trong giáo xứ và thật sự cảm động trước chứng từ của họ. Cả hai cho biết họ hoàn toàn có thể sống với nhiều tiện nghi và thoải mái hơn, nhưng đã chọn một lối sống giản dị để có thể đóng góp cho giáo xứ cũng như các tổ chức từ thiện. Tôi tin rằng chứng từ ấy cũng là tâm tình của rất nhiều người trong cộng đoàn Giáo xứ Chúa Ba Ngôi. 

Trong cùng một tinh thần chia sẻ ấy, chúng tôi rất vui mừng thông báo rằng Hội Chợ Giáo Xứ sẽ trở lại vào ngày 3 và 4 tháng 10 năm 2026, lần đầu tiên kể từ năm 2019. Chủ đề của Ngày Hội năm nay là: Hiệp Nhất Trong Đức Tin, Chung Tay Trong Sứ Vụ. 

Sau đại dịch COVID-19, cùng với những thay đổi về nhân sự mục vụ và nhiều chuyển biến khác trong đời sống giáo xứ, đây là dịp để chúng ta cùng nhau quy tụ, nâng đỡ lẫn nhau và tạ ơn Chúa vì những hồng ân Ngài đã ban cho cộng đoàn chúng ta. Đồng thời, đây cũng là cơ hội để chúng ta cùng nhau mừng vui và trân quý những truyền thống tốt đẹp của Giáo xứ Chúa Ba Ngôi. 

Chúng tôi thân ái mời gọi tất cả anh chị em cùng tham gia Hội Chợ Giáo Xứ. Toàn bộ lợi nhuận từ chương trình xổ số sẽ được dành để hỗ trợ Dự Án Cải Tạo Tiền Sảnh Thánh Đường và Mở Rộng Khu Vệ Sinh. Mặc dù dự án đã bị trì hoãn trong một thời gian, nhưng chưa bao giờ bị bỏ quên và vẫn là một ưu tiên quan trọng của giáo xứ. Hiện nay, hồ sơ xin phép mới đã được nộp lại cho Thành phố để chờ phê duyệt; tuy nhiên, tiến trình này có thể sẽ kéo dài thêm nhiều tháng. 

Xin chân thành cảm ơn sự quảng đại của quý vị trong những cách thức khác nhau mà quý vị đã chia sẻ “những chiếc bánh và con cá” của mình cho anh chị em tại Giáo xứ Chúa Ba Ngôi cũng như ngoài cộng đồng giáo xứ. 

Nguyện xin Chúa tiếp tục tuôn đổ muôn ơn lành trên quý vị và gia đình.
